Material Options for Wet-End Components
Material selection for frame plates and expellers follows similar criteria to other wet-end components. Shaft sleeves require additional consideration for seal compatibility and shaft protection requirements.
| Material | Dureza | Aplicación | Notas |
|---|---|---|---|
| A05 High-Chrome (Cr27) | 600-650 BHN | Frame plates, expellers for coarse abrasive slurries | Standard grade for mining pump wet-ends |
| A07 High-Chrome (Cr27Mo) | 650-700 BHN | Corrosive-abrasive applications, acidic slurries | Improved corrosion resistance over A05 |
| R55 Natural Rubber | 55 Shore A | Frame plate liners for fine particle slurries | Bonded to steel backing, max 70C |
| Ni-Resist (D2C) | 150-200 HB | Shaft sleeves, stuffing box components | Austenitic iron with corrosion resistance |
| Ceramic Coated Steel | 1200+ HV coating | Shaft sleeves for maximum wear life | Chrome oxide or tungsten carbide coating |
| 316 Stainless Steel | 150-200 HB | Shaft sleeves in corrosive applications | Good corrosion resistance, moderate wear |

Essential Wet-End Components for Slurry Pump Reliability
Beyond impellers, volutes, and throatbush liners, slurry pump wet-ends contain several critical components that protect the pump frame and shaft from abrasive slurry contact and are essential to maintaining reliable, efficient operation between major overhauls. Frame plate liners—manufactured from A05 high-chrome white iron (Cr27, 600–650 BHN) or R55 natural rubber (55 Shore A) bonded to steel backing shells—protect the structural back plate and house the stuffing box liner. Expellers are auxiliary vane assemblies in A05 or A07 chrome alloy that provide dynamic shaft sealing by pumping slurry away from the seal area. Shaft sleeves in Ni-Resist D2C austenitic iron, 316 stainless steel, or ceramic-coated steel (chrome oxide or tungsten carbide HVOF at 1,200+ HV) protect the expensive pump shaft from wear and corrosion in the stuffing box zone. Each of these components is critical to the pump's overall reliability and total cost of ownership.
These wet-end components work together as an integrated system to maintain pump integrity, prevent slurry leakage, and extend service intervals between major overhauls. ATF manufactures aftermarket frame plates, expellers, shaft sleeves, suction covers, stuffing box components, lantern rings, gland plates, and bearing assembly parts for all major slurry pump brands including Warman/Weir, Metso, KSB GIW, ITT Goulds, Flowserve, and Schurco. Each part is engineered to OEM specifications using 3D scanning and CMM verification, with material options carefully matched to the specific operating conditions—slurry abrasiveness, pH, temperature, and solids concentration—encountered in mining and mineral processing applications. ATF supplies individual components or complete wet-end rebuild kits, providing a single-source solution that simplifies procurement, ensures material compatibility across all positions, and reduces total pump maintenance costs.

Key Slurry Pump Wet-End Components
Frame Plate Liners
Back liners protecting the pump frame from erosion. High-chrome or rubber construction with integral stuffing box liner in many designs. Critical for maintaining pump structural integrity.
Expellers (Dynamic Seals)
Rotating vane assemblies mounted behind the impeller that pump slurry away from the shaft seal area. Reduces stuffing box pressure and extends packing or mechanical seal life.
Shaft Sleeves
Hardened sleeves protecting the pump shaft in the stuffing box area. Chrome iron, ceramic-coated, or hard-faced options available. Replaceable wear component preventing expensive shaft damage.
Suction Covers
Front cover plates with integral suction nozzle. High-chrome or rubber-lined options protect the suction inlet from erosion and house the throatbush liner.
Stuffing Box Components
Lantern rings, gland plates, packing rings, and water seal assemblies for conventional packed stuffing boxes. Proper sealing prevents slurry leakage and shaft damage.
Bearing Assembly Components
Bearing housings, cartridge assemblies, labyrinth seals, and grease seals. Protects bearings from contamination and maintains proper shaft support.
