Gyratory Shaft Bushings: Critical Bearing Components
Gyratory crusher shaft bushings are precision bearing components that support the main shaft and eccentric assembly under extreme and continuous loading conditions encountered in primary crushing operations. The lower eccentric bushing, typically manufactured from C93200 leaded tin bronze or C93700 high-lead bronze per ASTM B505, supports the gyratory oscillating motion that creates the crushing action by maintaining correct clearances and oil film geometry at radial loads measured in hundreds of tons. The spider bushing at the top provides upper shaft support and alignment. These large bronze or babbitt components require precision manufacturing to tolerances of H7/H8 on bore dimensions, with OEM-specified oil groove patterns machined to ensure full-film hydrodynamic lubrication throughout the eccentric stroke cycle.
Bushing failure is a serious and costly event that can damage the main shaft journal surfaces, eccentric housing bore, or spider casting, all components that cost an order of magnitude more than the bushings themselves and require significantly longer lead times for replacement. Regular oil analysis detecting elevated copper, tin, or lead particle content provides early warning of accelerated bushing wear. Temperature monitoring via installed thermocouples or RTDs with alarm set points enables detection of lubrication film breakdown before catastrophic contact occurs. Periodic clearance measurement during scheduled maintenance shutdowns using bore gauges or feeler gauges verifies that radial clearances remain within the OEM-specified range of typically 0.3-0.8 mm depending on shaft diameter. ATF manufactures replacement bushings in C93200, C93700, C95400 aluminum bronze, and babbitt-lined configurations to OEM specifications for all major gyratory crusher models.

Bushings cast from selected bronze alloys with proper lead content for excellent bearing properties.
Precision Bore Machining
Bores machined to achieve correct clearances for optimal oil film thickness under operating loads.
Oil Groove Patterns
Oil distribution grooves machined to OEM patterns for proper lubricant flow throughout the bearing.
Correct Interference Fits
OD machined for proper interference with housing to prevent spinning and ensure heat transfer.
Complete Assemblies
Bushings supplied individually or as complete assemblies with housings where applicable.
Rebabbitting Services
Worn babbitt bushings can often be rebabbitted if the bronze shell is in good condition.
Bushing Material Options
Gyratory crusher bushings are manufactured from bronze alloys or babbitt-lined bronze selected for the specific bearing application.
| Matériau | Dureté | Application | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| C93200 Leaded Tin Bronze | 60-70 HB | Standard eccentric and spider bushings | Good load capacity, excellent lubricity |
| C93700 High-Lead Bronze | 55-65 HB | High-load applications, boundary lubrication | Higher lead content for better embeddability |
| C95400 Aluminum Bronze | 150-170 HB | Heavy-duty applications requiring higher strength | Higher load capacity, good corrosion resistance |
| Babbitt-Lined Bronze | 20-30 HB (babbitt surface) | OEM replacement where babbitt is specified | Conformable surface, forgiving of misalignment |
